APRIL 4th

JIM PATTERSON - COULEURS D'ANJOU
Visitors to Art in Action will have been intrigued by Jim Patterson and Ronald Swaniwick's demonstration of a 'new' drawing medium 'Couleurs D'Anjou' on the Two Rivers Handmade Paper stand. 'New' to the market but in fact a medium once used by Rembrandt and many Northern European old masters for quick brush and pen drawings, this is Bistre, a powder derived from walnut ash, and readily dissolved in water. There is a modern twist in that this bistre comes in severn natural tints. It is extremely versatile and cheap to use.

MAY 2nd

JENNY KEAL - PASTEL LANDSCAPE
Jenny will demonstrate a landscape in pastel. Pastel is an ideal medium for creating atmosphere in the landscape by use of colour, tone and detail.

BERYL MAILE - MIXED MEDIA / ACRYLIC
Beryl is a formally trained professional artist and a well known After Dinner Speaker. She captivates audiences with her light-hearted, witty entertainments and sparkling demonstrations. Who else could transform blobs of paint into a landscape, flower or seascape in minutes, or turn doodles into amusing drawings in seconds? All thes activities are enlivened by hilarious anecdotes and highly idiosyncratic recollections of an eventful life. Many of her paintings reflect her extensive world travels and include canvasses for offices in London and New York, relief panels for a hotel in Saudi Arabia, murals, Inn Signs and book illustrations etc. Beryl has had two television series and appears on programmes from time to time.

AUGUST 1st KEITH TURLEY - PORTRAIT IN ACRYLICS
Keith Turley lives and works in Wall Heath in the Black Country, though originally from Birmingham. He formed a keen interest in Art whilst still at school, and considers that he developed his skills 'the hard way' by constant practice, working from life.

After a series of exhibitions in the mid 1980s at the Hexagon Theatre, Reading, particular interest grew in his 'celebrity' work, and there followed much demand for work by fan clubs and special commemorative events such as 'Blue Plaque' unveillings. Though his work is fairly wide ranging, Keith has carried out numerous commissions relating to comedians and the light entertainment world. Many such works are owned by show business personalities, as well as private collections, and a growing number are on permanent display at Pinewood Film Studios.

Selected works have been published as limited edition prints and book illustrations. Keith continues to carry out both 'public' and private commissions and has recently been involved in larger scale mural work, as well as painting for mixed exhibitions.
